🪷🪷🪷 We warmly invite you to join us for the sixth and final session of Mourning Is the Work: A Monthly Art and Ritual-Based Gathering for Educators to Practice Metabolizing our Grief, tomorrow, Thursday, March 20th.
This session offers a pause from the fast pace of life, providing an opportunity for both introspection and collective witnessing—the shared, active experience of grieving that reminds us we are not alone in our deep feelings and healing.
Metabolizing grief—integrating our many pains and transforming them into something we can learn from—is essential as we move forward in creating the world we desire. Rituals and art-based practices are powerful tools in this process, offering structure and expression for emotions that are difficult to articulate.
Tomorrow’s session will be a deeper dive into the Five Gates of Grief, which help us understand the diverse sources of loss we face, from the death of loved ones to unfulfilled personal potential. Through art and ritual-based practices, we’ll create Oracle Cards to call forth our own wisdom and insights, providing ongoing affirmation and guidance. Please join us and spread the word—we can’t wait to be with you in this way.
March is #SocialWorkMonth, a time to recognize the dedication, compassion, and resilience of social workers who make a difference in communities every day. From advocating for mental health to supporting youth and families, their impact is life-changing.
March 14th is Holi Celebrations, the vibrant Festival of Colors, celebrating the arrival of spring, the triumph of good over evil, and the joy of new beginnings!

Family Leaders: Enhance Your Skills in Fostering Family Engagement
Please join us on February 26 for an interactive discussion on Supporting Families in Policy Work!
This will be an open, interactive discussion about what are the core principles for meaningfully engaging families as partners and valuing those partnerships for achieving policy goals. We will discuss methods for recruiting, supporting and retaining family experience on governance and policy bodies. Facilitated by experienced family leader Lori Cerar.
What is a crisis? Crises are events, yes. They are also experiences that sharply surface whose lives are validated by society and culture who’s deaths pierce our collective hearts.
Jocelynn Rojo’s life mattered and matters, and her death pierces our hearts. Jocelynn, a 11-year-old girl, who lived in Gainesville Texas, loved dancing, singing, playing the French horn, swimming, and getting her nails done with her grandmother. According to several sources, Jocelynn was bullied at school for her family’s immigration status. In distress, she ended her life.
Our SCRR community - you - is made of beautiful and brilliant educators, leaders, and community members who are witnessing this story, this life, and this crisis with personal and professional grief.
SCRR Field Coach Oriana Ides teaches us that metabolizing grief is necessary for us as educators, and for our recovery and renewal. We can give ourselves and each other permission to feel, process, and make meaning when we witness experiences that have become normal when they are deeply not.
Join us this Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 3-4 pm PT / 6-7 pm ET to come together and create a container for processing Jocelynn’s death, anti-immigrant violence, our hostile political climate, and its devastating impact on our students, staff and communities. Let’s support each other so that we can support our students.
We’re here to support your success in school! Check out our one-stop resource page where you can find a variety of mental health and wellness tools to help you thrive as a student.
We also offer resources for school staff to better support their students.
